The baseball backstop near the Tiger Den
Students studied ten birds that migrate annually between Eastern Washington and places where Prescott School families have connections in the Americas. Mark Menjívar led drawing workshops so students could make a banner to welcome the birds on their journey north.
We organized Migratory BirdFest, a school-wide celebration to welcome the migrating birds. The event was created with the Walla Walla Immigrant Rights Coalition, Blue Mountain Audubon Society, Whitman College, and Pioneer Park Aviary. We hosted fun events like a birdseed eating contest, bird art activities, live birds, birdwatching, scientific displays, and more.
